William E. Loderhose
Of Frederica, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. He was 85.
William was born on November 23, 1925 in Hollis, New York, son of the late William H. C. and Katherine (Barrnowska) Loderhose.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Loderhose was employed for 39 years as a supervising service operator for Long Island Lighting Co/ Key Span Energy in Hicksville, New York, retiring in 1988.
His love of trains led to his long time interest in collecting and displaying model trains. He also enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Loderhose had been a member of the V.F.W. Sgt John J. Kreyer Post #7223 in Amityville, New York and the Amityville Fire Department.
He was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in Milford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Loderhose and his daughter, Robin L. Merlino.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Eleanor Loderhose; two grandchildren, Evan J. Merlino and Colleen Merlino and a niece.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow at Barratts Chapel Cemetery in Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 11 Independence Way, Newark, DE, 19713 or Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Ave, Milford, DE, 19963.
