William Goebel

William C. Goebel

MILFORD - William C. Goebel was called home by our Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2015.  He was 89.

Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 20, 1925.

He entered the Navy in 1944 and was deployed to the South Pacific.  He served on the USS Carter Hall until 1946.  His ship received six Battle Stars during WWII.  In 1950 Bill married Beatrice A. Blendermann of New York.  They were married 51 years.

While living in Rockville, MD, he was employed by F. Shumaker Co., in the Waverly division.  He retired in 1991 and moved to Delaware.

He loved taking his family to Disney World.  Throughout his life he was active in church, including teaching Junior High and adult Sunday school.

Bill is survived by two daughters; Lynn Callan of Frederick, MD, and Sue Wyman and husband Bill of Milford; five grandchildren, Chris Wyman, Carol Alger, Jon Wyman, Dan Callan, and Andrea Pickens and four great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 6062 Old Shawnee Rd, Milford, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m.

Burial with military honors will follow the services at 2:00 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
