Virginia Morris Willey
Of Harrington, Delaware, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at her home. She was 94.
Virginia was born on August 4, 1916 in Harrington, daughter of the late Urie P. and Ida H. (Biggs) Morris.
She was a full time homemaker who was dedicated to her church, loved helping people and enjoyed china painting.
Mrs. Willey was a long time member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrington, joining in 1929. She was a Sunday school teacher for thirty years, eleven of which she was also the Superintendent of the Primary Department. Virginia had been an active member of the Asbury Women's Society, serving many years as the society's president and vice president, the Spiritual Life secretary, a circle leader and held many other offices within the church.
She served one term as secretary of children's work for the Dover District Women's Society of Christian Service.
Virginia was a member of the Harrington Senior Center where she served a term on their Board of Directors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark H. Willey.
She is survived by Kenneth Hughes, who was like a son to her, and his wife Bonnie of Harrington; a dear sister-in-law, Anne W. Thomas of Wilson, NC; six nephews; Mark L. Willey of Wilson, NC; Joshua Willey and his wife Elaine of Milford, George H. Willey and his wife Pat of Dagsboro, Charles Stevenson and his wife Sally of Milford; Jimmy Stevenson and his wife Brenda of Angola and Jean Stevenson of Georgetown; a niece, Cindy Swain and her husband Gary of Lincoln and her special caregivers, Clara Orozco, Mary Dufresne and Joy Bishop.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Ave, Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Ave, Harrington, DE, 19952.
Arrangements handled by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford.
