Thomas Edward Brown, Jr.

Of Milford, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Christiana Hospital in Newark from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 49.

Thomas was born on October 31, 1961 in Kingston, New York, son of the late Thomas E. and Juanita (Boughton) Brown-Rydzewski.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force serving his country while stationed at the Dover Air Force Base.

Mr. Brown was a loyal employee for 24 years with Atlantic Concrete in Lewes, where he held the position of senior driver on the mixer trucks.

Thomas enjoyed playing computer games, gardening and bird watching, especially fascinated by his hummingbirds in the spring and summer months and entertaining family and friends with a backyard barbeque. He was also a regular participant in the Touch-A-Truck program held annually in Lewes.

In addition to his family, he will be greatly missed by his two feline companions whom he loved dearly, Gracie and Molly.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Sherry Brown; two daughters, Heather Brown Klein of Milton and Jessica Jones of Milford; three brothers; Edward Brown of Ohio, Charles Brown of New York and Eric Brown of Kingston, NY; two sisters, Linda Jeffrey and Cecilia Panella, both of Kingston, NY and the joy of his life who referred to him affectionately as "Poppy", his granddaughter, Cailyn Klein.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the S.P.C.A., Sussex Chapter, 22918 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE, 19947 or Primehook National Wildlife Refuge, Eagle Preservation, 11978 Turkle Pond Rd, Milton, DE, 19968.
