Theresa Rose Shupe
Age 84, of Milford, formerly of Philadelphia and Ridley Park, PA passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in Milford Memorial Hospital.
Theresa was born April 14, 1927 in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Gaetano and Marie (Ponticelli) Miglio.
She was employed for several years as a secretary for Friends Hospital in Philadelphia but for most of her life Mrs. Shupe was a full time homemaker, mother and wife. After retirement, she and her late husband enjoyed traveling together to many destinations around the world.
While a resident at The Heritage of Milford, Theresa was an active participant in their fitness center, the Tone Chimes, and the Rosary Prayer Group. She also enjoyed special outings with other residents and friends and because of her interest in reading, always looked forward to visits from the Delaware Bookmobile.
Mrs. Shupe was a member of the St. Madeline's Catholic Church in Ridley Park and a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Milford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Shupe in 2005 and a sister Mary Preen.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; William and Sherrie Shupe of Milford; James and Tracey Shupe of Haddon Heights, NJ; and Thomas and Cynthia Shupe of Royersford, PA; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Frank Curran of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Thomas Miglio of Sewell, NJ; eight grandchildren; Kelly Greenly and her husband Mark, Alana Gut and her husband Alex, Bryan Shupe, Alyssa Curran, Francis Curran, Laura Curran, Nicholas Shupe and Giselle Shupe and a great granddaughter, Samantha Gut.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the St. John's Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford.
Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Delaware Tech Owens Campus General Scholarship Fund, Attn: Jason Bently, P.O. Box 610, Georgetown, DE, 19947, checks should be made payable to Delaware Tech.
