Sophie M. Bowman
Age 62, of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital.
Sophie was born in England on July 5, 1951 to the late Henry and Mary (Kwiecinski) Banek.
She was employed for many years with Allstate Insurance in Wayne, New Jersey and later worked as an insurance adjustor for Avon-Dixon Agency in Easton, Maryland, where she retired in 2007.
Sophie had many interests but she mostly enjoyed working on craft projects in her spare time which she often shared with family and friends. She also had a passion for reading good books, and loved preparing specialty food dishes for her family. She was a member of the National Cooking Club, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #8441 in Vernon, NJ.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Allen B. Bowman; her sister, Lydia Banek of Buena, NJ; her brother, George Banek of Vero Beach, FL; and two nephews, John Banek of Vero Beach, FL, and Justin Banek of Los Angeles, CA; in addition to several dear Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 in the Chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE, 19966.
Burial will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, Sussex Chapter, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD, 21803.
