Sharon Bailey

Milford - Sharon J. Bailey, 70, died February 23, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Sharon was born in Milford to the late Jean and Charles Murphy.

She was a graduate of Garland Jr. College and the University of Delaware and received her Master’s degree from Salisbury University. Sharon was inquisitive, had a great sense of humor, usually had a story about something and always had an opinion! She tried to live her life as a good and caring person. Sharon was a volunteer in local groups including DMI, the library, MMH and Hospice. Sharon had many passions. Her most fervent passions were children and her family. Sharon taught Sunday School for over 30 years at Christ Church, was a Cub Scout leader, a mentor for the Milford School and a Camp New Hope volunteer. She taught school in Chestnut Hill, MA for two years before beginning her career for the Milford School District. In June of 2011, she retired full time after 39 years. In September of that year she began working as a substitute until she was forced to retire due to illness in March. Her other passion was here family and friends. Nothing meant more to Sharon than spending time with her much loved family. Her friendships were very important to her also.

Sharon is survived by the love of her life, Jay, her loving sons Charlie (Adriane) of Carlisle, PA and Patrick (Lauren) of Newark and her precious grandchildren Hope and Connor. She was preceded by her brother Charles. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Kathleen, and her brothers John (Carol) and Harry. She is survived also by numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, March 10th at Christ Church in Milford. Friends may visit with the family in Baker Hall starting 11AM.
