Ross Penney

April 7, 1990 — November 15, 2018

Felton – On November 15, 2018, Ross A. Penney went home to be with the Lord.

Ross was born on April 7, 1990 in Milford, DE to David and Karen Penney.

Ross’s favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting and anything that involved getting muddy. Even though he hated the cold, waiting on a frosty morning for the right flock to fly over was the perfect day for him.  His truck was his most prized possession, but the minute he was done muddin’ he could be found detailing it back to new.  He enjoyed being around those who kept a smile on his face and would go to any lengths to put a smile on theirs.  He would drop anything in a second to help someone in need, even if it meant sacrificing his own pleasures.  He always made sure to keep in touch with family and be involved in as many of their functions as possible. He adored his two nephews and always made an effort to spend time with them.

He attended Poly Technical High School, Woodside, DE where he studied welding.  He graduated high school in 2008.

Ross played Pop Warner for the Milford Little Bucs and Milford Little League. He was a member of Cub Scout Pack #116 and Boy Scout Troop #102.

Ross was a member of the General Torbert Chapter Order of DeMolay, where he obtained the highest rank possible as a Chevalier. He was also a P.M.C. / M.S.A. and State Master Counselor 2009/2010  for the Jurisdiction of Delaware DeMolay. At 18, he joined Masonic Temple Lodge No.9, Milford, DE, serving as Junior Steward for one year.

He worked as a welder for a variety of places, including Chesapeake Shipbuilding, Baltimore Aircoil Co. and Perdue Farms.

Ross is survived by his parents, David and Karen Penney of Felton, DE, his brother, Caleb Penney and nephews, Chance and Knox Penney, of Eagle River, AK, and a host of other family members.

A memorial service will be held at 3PM, this Friday 11/23 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, with a visitation between 1 -3PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations in Ross’ name be made to a youth charity of your choice.
