Robert C. Messmer, Jr.
MILFORD - Robert C. Messmer, Jr. passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 6, 2014. He was 65.
Robert was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, on March 8, 1949, the son of Evelyn (Wheary) Messmer and the late Robert C. Messmer, Sr.
He proudly served as a member of the National Guard.
Mr. Messmer was a self employed commercial photographer for 25 years, retiring from his profession in 2003. He then took a position as a rural carrier for the US Post Office in Georgetown which he held until 2011.
Robert was an accomplished sailor and enjoyed outings on his boat in the Delaware Bay near his home in Slaughter Beach.
He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Milford.
Robert is survived by his wife of 32 years, Donna L. Messmer, his son, Christian D. Messmer of Milford; and his mother, Evelyn W. Messmer of Milton.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford, where friends may greet the family one hour prior.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford, DE, 19963.
