Richard Thomas Roeill, Sr.
Of Milford, formerly of Oceanside, NY, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 77.
Richard was born on January 19, 1934 in East Rockaway, New York, son of the late Ernest and Margaret (Curtis) Roeill.
He was employed as a construction worker with Local #1 Elevator Construction in New York, NY, from 1962 until his retirement in 1995.
Mr. Roeill was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, a member of the Oceanside Volunteer Fire Company from 1951-1995 and the South Bowers Fire Company from 1995 to present. He was also a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge #534 and the St. John's Catholic Church in Milford.
He enjoyed fishing and loved time spent with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Roeill was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Scott.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie I. Roeill; three sons and daughters-in-law; Richard T., Jr. and Annmarie Roeill of Long Island, NY; Donald G. and Denise Roeill of Marlboro, NJ; and Ronald J. and Joan Roeill of Rockaway, NY; a daughter, Kathy Roeill of Levittown, NY; a brother, Ernest Roeill of Leeburg, FL; ten grandchildren; April, James, Danny, Jennifer, Angelica, Julianne, Zachary, Daniela, Nikki and Jack and a great-granddaughter, Olivia.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and again from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford.
Burial will be held in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963.
