Patricia "Pat" J. Hays
HARRINGTON - Patricia J. Hays passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Silver Lake Center in Dover where she had been a resident. She was 86.
She was born in Decatur, Illinois, on August 27, 1929 to the late Roy J. and Marie (Eaton) Buttz.
Pat was a full time homemaker. She always loved to read and enjoyed traveling whenever she could.
She was a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford where she had been active in the Naomi Circle.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Clarence H. Hays, a former ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, in 2010.
She is survived by a son, Christopher H. Hays and his wife Gretchen of Gaithersburg, MD; three daughters, Paula B. Hays and her husband Ejvind Lynning of Denmark; Laraine J. Gillespie and her husband Harvey of Milford; and Sally D. Eliason and her husband Thomas of Harrington; seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, where the family will welcome friends after 1:00 p.m.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Pat's memory to the Milford Community Pantry, c/o Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, DE, 19963.
