Neil D. Essick
Of Milton, Delaware, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 77.
Mr. Essick was born on May 6, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Robert and Anna Mae (Jeavons) Essick.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Korea.
Neil was Director of Corporate Planning with the US Silica Corp in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia retiring in 1990. He was the Director of the Milford Housing Development Corp from 1992 to 2005.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Milford where he had served over the years as a Deacon, Trustee and Elder.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Essick, a daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Ray Jenkins of Greensboro, Maryland; a son, Matthew Essick of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia; a beloved sister-in-law, Olive Anderson; a granddaughter, Whittney M. Essick; two grandsons, Daniel J. Jenkins and Raymond Jenkins, III and his wife Diane and two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn A. Jenkins and Raymond Jenkins IV.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Essick was preceded in death by a son, Charles Mark Essick.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, 101 S. Walnut St, Milford, where friends may greet the family one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Debbie's Fund, an animal rescue organization, c/o The Felton Bank, Attn: Dee Andrews, 698A DuPont Hwy, Milford, DE, 19963.
