Muriel Helen Clark VanRees

MILFORD - Muriel Helen Clark VanRees, born July 23, 1915, went to be with God and her beloved husband, Sterling C. VanRees on January 24, 2015.

She gave the world four cherished children; Douglas P. VanRees and his wife MaryEllen VanRees,  Janet VanRees Sullivan and her husband Jack Sullivan, Barbara VanRees Steurwald, and Sterling VanRees, Jr. and his wife Toni VanRees.

Her pride shone in her grandchildren; Dirk VanRees and his wife Tracey Morgan VanRees, Brent VanRees and his wife Sonya Quarleo VanRees, Kim VanRees Baker and her husband G. Edward Baker II, Thomas Sullivan and his fiancée Ceira Gowers, Dr. Christine Sullivan Smith and her husband David Smith, Theresa Steurwald Richards and her husband Lee Richards, Colleen Steurwald Huun and her husband Dr. Eric Huun, and Leah VanRees and her fiancé Andrew Brianco.

Her pride overflowed to her great grandchildren; Lauren VanRees Benbow, Ashley VanRees, Sean VanRees, Kerry VanRees, Anna Baker, Juliana Baker, Jessica Sullivan, Grant Sullivan, Camille Sullivan, Brett Smith, Madeline Richards, Kelsey Huum, Dominic Huum, and Mason Huum.

Muriel was a willing volunteer at Christ Episcopal Church which she loved so.  She converted library books into Braille, patterned an autistic child, and volunteered at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, the Milford Public Library, and the Milford Senior Center.  She also instigated a support group of recently widowed ladies.

Her love of the water and boating on her "Happy Six" plus her quiet past time hobbies of reading and bridge, hooking rugs and knitting filled the voids in her husband's absence!

Muriel loved life and sought it out for 99 1/2 years - quite a lady!

A visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Christ Episcopal Church, 200 North Church St, Milford.

Burial will follow the services in the adjoining church cemetery.
