Michael James Homlish, Sr.
Of Newark, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 14, 2013 at his home. He was 57.
Michael was born on December 9, 1955, in Valley Forge, Pa, son of Paul James Homlish, Jr. and the late Patricia J. (Longanecker) Homlish.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Homlish was employed as a network engineer with Delmarva Electric in Newark.
Mike enjoyed gardening, traveling, discussing the latest political issues, and was an avid video gamer. He loved to write and draw and was an accomplished artist and painter. He was passionate about life, the arts, his animals, and was a devoted husband and father, always striving to be a role model to both his immediate and extended family.
Mike was a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited, and served for a long period of time during the 1980's as president of the Dover Art League.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Theresa J. Homlish; a son, Michael James Homlish, Jr. of Asheville, NC; a daughter, Catherine Joyce Homlish of Newark; his father, Paul J. Homlish, Jr. of Milford; three brothers, John Homlish, Sr. of Indianapolis, IN, Steven Homlish, Sr. of Hartley, and Paul Homlish, III, of Wilmington; and a sister, Cherelyn McGuckin of Milford.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and again from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford.
Burial will follow the services at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to St. Johns Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford, DE, 19963 or to Response-A-Bull Rescue, 2040-A Telegraph Rd, Wilmington, DE, 19808.
