Marilyn McDonough
AGE: 84, MILFORD
Marilyn McDonough, 84, passed away on August 27, 2014. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Whittaker) and John Meyer.
Marilyn graduated from Bay Ridge High School for Girls and the Katherine Gibbs School. She was an Executive Secretary in New York City until her marriage to Donald W. McDonough in 1952. They raised their children in New City, New York. Don and Marilyn were married for 50 years, until his death in 2002, one day after their Golden Anniversary. In 2003, she moved to Milford.
Marilyn worked many years in Rockland County, New York, as an Administrative Assistant in several schools for profoundly handicapped children. She retired in 1992. She was an excellent homemaker, with a love for sewing and knitting and having a house full of company. Marilyn will be most remembered for her excellent sense of humor and her witty comebacks and stories; she could make anybody laugh out loud.
Marilyn is survived by her son Donald of Dallas, Texas, and her daughters Jane Dickerson and her husband Stan of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Nancy Burkett of Milford. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Amy Dunlap and her husband John, Meghan Love and her husband Jeff, Cassie Dickerson, Caitlin Burkett and her fiancAC. Matt, and Taylor Burkett, as well as her two great grandchildren, Ezra and Evan Dunlap. In addition, Marilyn is survived by her aide, Phyllis Waterman, who cared for her lovingly for four years, along with Phyllis' daughter Corri Maloney.
A private family memorial service was held with interment in Brick Church Cemetery, Spring Valley, New York.
