Margaret "Peggy" Short

MARGARET "PEGGY" H. SHORT

MILFORD - Margaret "Peggy" H. Short, beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017.  She was 88.

Born on April 27, 1928, in Rehoboth Beach, daughter of Harrison Gilbert and Ethel Lillian (Bayless) Ward, Peggy later became a lifelong Milford resident.

As a 1947 Beacom College graduate, Peggy first worked at Hercules in Wilmington.  After providing 32 years of loyal service as executive secretary to multiple general managers, she retired from Dentsply in 1991.

Peggy was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Milford Hospital Auxiliary, and a former Bayhealth volunteer.

She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, generosity, kindness, and wit.  Her warm home and good cooking embraced both family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Nelson Short in 2008, her sister, Louise Rutland, and five brothers, Richard, Willard, Ridgely, Madison, and William Ward.

Peggy was deeply loved and will be missed by her daughters, Kathleen E. Russell of Milford, and Carol L. Knight (Gary) of Camden; her granddaughters, Sara E. Riggs (Michael) of Niceville, FL, and Emily L. Russell (Heather McCabe) of Fulton, MD; and seven great grandchildren, Annabel, Sam, Cole, Reese, Eva, Leo, and Lizzie.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S.E. Front St, Milford, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m.

Burial will follow the services at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
