Larry D. Smith
Age 63, of Milford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Larry won his battle with pancreatic cancer, but sadly succumbed to an underlying lung condition which he fought to the end.
He was born on December 25, 1949 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Leo and Bonnie (Johnson) Smith.
Larry was a devoted husband, loving father, pop-pop, and brother, true friend, and loyal employee. He retired from Kraft General Foods after 38 years of service. He was presently employed by the Delaware Veterans Home in Milford where he thoroughly enjoyed the companionship of his co workers and the residents.
Larry also enjoyed spending his leisure time in his workshop tinkering and fixing many things for friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Smith, and a nephew, Charlie Smith, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Rosalinda Smith, a son, Brandon Smith of Milford; a daughter, Patricia Villarreal and her companion, Jason Arrington of Little Creek; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lynne and Chad Zook of Ocean View; his granddaughters, Ellie and Kari Zook; his sisters, Kathryn Chadwell and Patricia Bouchard; his brothers, Jerry Smith and Donald Smith; and many nieces, nephews, in laws, and pets.
Larry will be missed greatly by all who have been blessed with knowing him.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.
Services and burial will be held privately.
