Kumiko Sato McGinnis
Of Milford, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at her home. She was 82.
Kumiko was born in Japan in 1928 to Ryojiro and Kaneko Sato and was one of six children.
In 1953, she married Reese E. Phillips, now deceased, and remained his wife for 22 years. Kumiko was naturalized as an American citizen in 1956. She later married Frederick McGinnis, living mostly in Rhode Island until his passing in 1996.
She lived most of her life as a homemaker and worked as her children grew. Later in life, she enjoyed the company of friends at the Milford Senior Center especially when line dancing or at the casino.
She is survived by her three sons, Bill Phillips of Salt Lake City, Utah; Edward Phillips of Shelby, NC and James Phillips of Milford; two sisters, Misako Sato and Mieko Kawai, both of Tokyo, Japan; her grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private memorial service.
