Kathleen Laremore Hubbard

April 12, 1952 — March 27, 2025

Milton

Kathleen L. Hubbard, 72, passed peacefully at Milford DE Hospice on March 27, 2025 after an extended illness. Kathy was born in Milford Memorial Hospital on April 12, 1952, daughter of the late Jack Massey Laremore and Frances (Beck) Laremore.

She graduated with the class of 1970 from Milford High School, Lakeview Avenue, where she excelled in class plays, “South Pacific”, “Annie Get Your Gun”, and “Pillow Talk”. Kathy was voted the “Most Talented” senior by her classmates validating her fabulous performances and exceptional singing voice. The MHS chorus and later the choir at Reformation Lutheran Church were blessed with her talent.

During 1970-1974, Kathy attended Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, and earned her BSED becoming a Physical Education teacher. While in college she continued singing and acting in their outstanding theater productions of “Hello Dolly”, “Funny Girl”, “West Side Story”, and “Camelot”. She also taught aerobics classes, lifeguarded summers at the Sheraton Inn pool in Dover, DE, and conducted bible studies in Milford Place.

Later, Kathy worked her way up to the Executive Director of Luther Towers Senior Services in Milton, DE. She worked seventeen years with Pastor John Ranney, president of the Lutheran Senior Services board of directors, Bonnie Russell, board treasurer, John Eustis, board member, and Steve Buck, Luther Towers Maintenance Supervisor. Their work was honored in a Washington, DC ceremony for achieving the HUD Superior Rating commendation, July 31, 2000, and gained approval for additional senior citizen residences in Sussex County.

Kathy enjoyed getting sand in her toes at Fenwick Island or any beach on a sunny day. She loved her dogs and traveling and fishing with her husband of 30 years, William E. Hubbard.

They would go out, early in the morning, to secluded spots in their bass boat where the fish would be biting and rack up, as many as the day allowed, for weigh-ins. Encouraged by a fishing buddy, Bill and Kathy took a trip to Mexico and joined a group who came down to fish each winter in the warm Gulf. It became their dream to retire on the magical island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, but a tragic accident prevented that from happening. Her beloved husband succumbed to the resulting injuries in 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Frances Laremore, her husband, Bill Hubbard, two step-sons, Theodore Hubbard and Billy Hubbard, and several family fur babies.

She is survived by her brother, Jeffrey M. Laremore (Vesta); brother-in-law, Denny Hubbard (Pat); step-son, Chris Hubbard; two granddaughters, Morgan Lister (Brandon) and Juliet Keesic; one great-grandchild, Coralee Lister; cousins Joan Emory (Gilbert); Chris Emory (Jean); Pat Emory (Judy); Kenny Deats; Helen Deats; Martha Deats Parrish (Larry); her church family; and many dear friends.
