Karen Lee Keizer

Karen Lee Schoenfeld Keizer, a resident of Milford, Delaware, departed this life on September 30, 2024. 

Karen was born on December 12, 1952, to William and Katherine (Kit) Schoenfeld in Elizabeth, New Jersey. 

She had a fulfilling career at Overlook Hospital, where she formed lasting friendships. Karen was deeply passionate about various hobbies, including scuba diving, traveling, quilting, sewing, baking, and gardening. 

In 1997, Karen entered into matrimony with her beloved John Keizer. They initially resided in Bridgewater, New Jersey, before relocating to Delaware upon her retirement. The couple cherished their passion for the ocean, their family, and their grandchildren. Karen was endearingly referred to as Mema by her devoted grandchildren, who held her in great affection. 

Karen was predeceased by her parents William and Kit, her loving husband John, her mother-in-law Alice Keizer, and her brother-in-law Harold Keizer. 

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Kelli Spadavecchia husband Nick, stepson Jon Keizer, and her three grandchildren who she adored, Nicky, Ally, and Johnny, sisters and brothers-in-law, Kevin and Bernice Keizer, Maureen and Dom Venditto and Mona and Jim Hornsey as well many special nieces and nephews. 

The family expresses their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Milford Place and Compassionate Care for their caregiving and support. Funeral services will be conducted privately.
