John Curtis Towers
GREENWOOD - John Curtis Towers passed away at home on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. He was 70.
John was born in Easton, Maryland on September 6, 1943, son of the late William Lee and Velma Margaret (Hunter) Towers.
He was employed as an electrician for DuPont in Seaford, retiring in 2003 after 36 years with the company.
John loved being at home either watching a good movie, enjoying the company of family and friends or simply relaxing in a comfortable chair taking in the sights from his front porch. He also looked forward to regular shopping trips to Walmart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Simpson and Janet Griffith, and his step-father, William Rhodes.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Verona L. Towers, a son, John Curtis Towers, Jr. and his wife Kety of Orange City, FL; two sisters, Shugie Dill of Wye Mills, MD, and Faye Rogers of Milford; three grandchildren, Andrew Towers, Jessica Towers, and Ryan Towers; and his three beloved feline companions, Me-Maw, Arthur and Sassie.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the services in Union Cemetery, 10622 N. Union Church Rd, Lincoln.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the S.P.C.A., 22918 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, DE, 19947.
