Janet C. Nelson – Milford
Janet C. Nelson, surrounded by family, went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2017.
She was born on December 18, 1941 in Sheldon, Iowa, to the late William and Lorraine Crist.
Janet graduated from the Minneapolis General Hospital School of Nursing. As a military wife, she served our country as a registered nurse at many different hospitals, locally working at Milford Memorial and Dickinson Medical Group.
Mrs. Nelson was an active and devoted member of Calvary U.M.C., serving as the Education Supervisor and participating in various bible studies.
She had a lively and loving spirit. She enjoyed reading, studying her bible, traveling, camping with her family, going on cruises with her husband, and spending time with her many grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her husband of 55 years, Col. (Ret.) Wayne Nelson. She is also survived by her children, Lt. Col. Harlan Nelson and his wife, Kelly Nelson; Laura Nelson Jones and her husband, Charles Jones; Raegan Nelson Hanson and her husband, Major Bradley Hanson; and Jared W. Nelson and his wife, Jill Nelson; her grandchildren, Dustin B. Jones and his wife, Lindsay Jones; David W. Jones and his wife, Lauren Jones; Brandon S. Nelson and his girlfriend, Alex Mallard; Kylie R. Nelson, Rylee G. Hanson, Brady W. Hanson, Brianna Hansen, Lauryn Hansen, Nolan Hansen, and Austin Hansen; her great-grandchildren, Kayden B. Sherwood and Liam D. Jones; her sister, Donna Baumgartner; her close friends, Pat and Penny Visioli; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors an hour prior to the memorial service at Calvary U.M.C at 2PM on Saturday, January 6, 2018. A fellowship luncheon will follow at the church.
