Harrington - On August 11, 2018, James R. Kirby peacefully passed away at his home.
Jim was born on February 25, 1950 in Milford to the late Frank and Annette Kirby.
He graduated in 1968 from Milford High School. After graduation, he worked as a mason for Fluharty and Gallo’s Masonry. Then he joined his father’s business, Frank R. Kirby & Sons, and was a mechanic and radiator tech. With retirement in sight, he needed that one last opportunity so he became part of the Del Dot team as a mechanic. After 10 years, Jim retired and enjoyed life.
He was a member of Slaughter Beach Memorial Fire Co. when he was young. Jim was a charter member of the Milford Moose, a member of the Milford Elks, and the National Rifle Assoc.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Gwendolyn K. Larimore, Carolyn A. Gardner and her husband John, Bonnie L. Ashley, and Frank R. Kirby and his wife Molly, his three nieces, Crystal L. Walker, Holly A. Myrick, and Karen Kay Kirby, one nephew, Eddie Kirby, and two great nephews, Zachery B. Myrick and Thomas Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronnie Lee Kirby.
The family will receive visitors at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford on Saturday 8/18 from 11AM to 1PM with a memorial service at 1PM.
The family would like to sincerely thank Vitas Healthcare and Hospice for the loving care and compassion extended to Jim and the family. And, a special thanks to his niece, Holly, as she was with him throughout his journey. The family is deeply appreciative of her efforts.

There will be a celebration of life to be announced at the conclusion of the service.
