Jacqueline (Jackie) Quisenberry
MILFORD, Jacqueline (Jackie) Quisenberry quietly passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2013 in the wee hours of the morning in the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Born Jacqueline Simpson at home in North River, North Carolina on March 10, 1924 (even though her birth certificate says March 15), she was the ninth of the eleven children of Thomas Jefferson and Mattie Hassell Simpson.
At eighteen, she fled the quiet country-side following brothers and sisters for the hurly burly and jobs of war-time Washington, D.C. In 1945, she met and two weeks later married 2nd LT Billie Quisenberry, USAF in Panama City, Florida. They welcomed a daughter into their family but eventually parted ways after she was grown. She later met Herbert (Herbie) Horton whom she loved for more than 24 years until his passing in 1996 and loved his family to this day.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Sandra; two grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew; seven great-grandchildren; her devoted and loving sister, Eunice, and Eunice's son, Wayne and his wife Charlotte, and their family.
In addition, there are the families of her deceased brothers and sisters; Robert (Bobby), Sally, Virginia (Ginnie), Solomon (Buddy), Alstyne (Sissie), and Helene that she held close to her heart.
Jackie loved laughter, happy times, being around people, and family. She was known for her common sense. She always woke up smiling.
Contributions in her memory may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963.
