Hildegard S. Parkhurst
Of Milford, age 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Milford Center.
Hilde was born in Rochester, New York, July 21, 1928, the daughter of Helmuth and Clara Stegmaier. She grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Abington High School, Class of 1946.
Her working career included secretarial positions at the Insurance Company of North America, Philadelphia, and the Devereux Foundation, Berwyn, Pennsylvania. She retired from the L.D. Caulk Company in Milford.
When she and her family moved to Milford in 1975, Hilde became an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, serving on the Altar Guild and as a choir director. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and volunteering at the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry W. Parkhurst, Jr.
She is survived by her children, William H. Parkhurst and Melinda, Ingrid Mick and David, and Holly Maloney; her sister, Doris Schmidt and Eugene; and her step-grandson, Timothy Mowrey.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 200 North Church Street, Milford.
A private burial will take place at St. Peter's Church in the Great Valley, Paoli, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 191, Milford, DE, 19963.
