Hazel Anna Pohlmann, 95
1917 - 2013
MILFORD, Hazel Anna Steinmann Pohlmann went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, September 8, 2013. She was born on October 8, 1917 to Ernst Henry Steinmann and Emma Henrietta Riefesel Steinmann, the third of six children. She grew up in Hannibal, Missouri.
She met her husband on a blind date while he was in the US Army. They were married on May 16, 1941. After Edgar returned from serving in WW II, they resided in Rolla, Missouri. Edgar's work took them to Cahokia, Illinois where they lived for many years and where they raised their 3 children. Later the family lived in different locations including a time in Thailand and settled in College Park, Maryland. The couple spent 57 happy years together traveling in the states in their travel trailer as well as traveling extensively internationally.
After Edgar's passing on November 20, 1998, Hazel lived with her elder daughter's family in Milford. She attended the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach. Hazel was devoted to her church. Over the years, in different Lutheran churches, she participated in choir, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Ladies Aid Society, Sand Dollars, many outreach missions, the Lord's Cupboard, and numerous other activities.
She loved gardening, embroidering and reading. Her ready smile and sweet nature will be missed by many. Her family was very precious to her, especially her great grandchildren.
