The world is a little quieter, and our hearts are a lot heavier with the loss of our Greg and Pop. Greg was a force of nature, whose chuckle, wisdom, and blunt honesty left a permanent mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Greg’s spirit was larger than life.
Born on January 2nd in Milford, Delaware, Greg lived a life full of adventure and ambition. He graduated from Indian River High School in 1986 and continued his education in HVAC, obtaining his associates degree from Delaware Technical Community College. Greg went on to devote almost 35 years to the Delaware Department of Correction, working his way up from a new recruit to retiring as Capital Programs Administrator. His persistence and passion for his work showed through those he left behind to honor his legacy. If you asked Greg, his guys were apart of his family. Although his “tough guy” persona was displayed at work, it softened immediately in the presence of the love of his life, Tracy.
Greg loved to spend his time traveling with his loving wife, Tracy, whom he adored so deeply. Greg also enjoyed his free time trying new recipes on his smoker, relaxing at the beach with his family, surf fishing, spoiling his three grandbabies—whose presence filled his world with joy—and enjoying a nice glass of bourbon. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel like they mattered, giving the shirt off his back for anyone in need or dropping everything to help someone out.
Greg will forever be remembered for his thoughtfulness, devotion to his family and work, his ability to make anyone laugh (often at the most inappropriate times), and his immeasurable heart.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy; children: Jay, Cayla, Connor, and Corey; bonus children: Samantha, Eric, Katherine (Adam), Sarah, and Zachary (Amanda); grandchildren: Ella, Wade, and Stevie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erik and Mary Christian.
While we mourn Greg’s passing, we find comfort in knowing that the legacy of love, laughter, and intentionality he leaves behind will continue to inspire all who were touched by his life. We ask you raise your cup of coffee or glass of bourbon to celebrate Greg's life.
