Georgia Anne Willey Thomas
WILSON, NC - Georgia Anne Willey Thomas, formerly of Milford, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 after a period of declining health. She was 88.
Anne was born in Milford and resided there until her move to Wilson, NC in 2007 to be near her son. She was a homemaker and also worked at the Milford Public Library, H.S. Saunders Jewelers, and the M&L Hallmark Shop.
Anne was a 70 year member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford, where she was actively involved in many activities, most importantly the church choir. After her move to Wilson, she became an active member of West Nash United Methodist Church and was involved in many activities at Spring Arbor of Wilson, where she resided.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold I. Willey and Robert O. Thomas; parents, John and Emma Lodge; and a sister, Verna Walls.
Surviving are her son, Mark L. Willey of Wilson, NC; nieces, Deborah Clendaniel (Brooke), Sandy Culotta (Chuck), and Cindy Swain (Gary); nephews, Joshua Willey (Elaine), Charles Stevenson (Sally), Gene Stevenson, and Jim Stevenson (Brenda); step-daughter and step-son, Carolyn Heard (Larry) and Robert Thomas (JoDell); several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford, with the Rev. Wendy Owen officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow the services in the Milford Community Cemetery on North Walnut Street.
