Greenwood

Elrita Annett passed away peacefully surrounded by friends on August 11, 2024, at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, DE, at the age of 68 after a long illness. Elrita was predeceased by her mother Rita Clairice Hale and her father John Ronald Annett. She is survived by her two children Mirina Brown and Jeremy Kemp along with her granddaughter Avalon Davis.

In earlier years, Elrita served as a Construction Project Manager with the State of Delaware OMB/Facilities Management Office from 1988 to 2012. She was instrumental in overseeing the construction of the Quillen Arena at the DE State Fairgrounds.

Following retirement, she spent most of her time at her beloved home, Annett Farms, where she boarded horses, taught riding lessons and hosted horse shows throughout the summers. Her heart belonged to the Arabian and Welsh breeds. Two particular favorites were Sea Shanty her Welsh pony and Gizmo her Welsh Cob.

Elrita was a longtime supporter of the Delaware Equine Council, the American Mustang & Burro Association, Courageous Hearts LLC and a longtime member of the 4H Horse Advisory Committee. She became a certified judge for horse shows in DE, MD, PA and NJ.

Elrita will be remembered for her love of the young generation and being able to teach them the art of horsemanship and showmanship. She was an incredible horsewoman and will truly be missed.
