Elaine Susan Swierczek

Elaine S. Swierczek of Forestport, NY and Greenwood, DE passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Milford, Delaware.

She was the daughter of David Spencer Gardner and Ethel Rita Ehlinger Gardner of Utica, NY. She attended St. France DeSales schools and graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY. She married Stephen Arthur Swierczek of New York Mills, NY on August 2, 1975. She had a successful and rewarding career with various state and county agencies in New York.  

She was President of the Women’s Service Board of the Fairport Baptist Homes in Fairport, NY and volunteered for many years at that nursing home. She served as Regent and Vice Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution for the Caleb Hopkins Chapter of Pittsford, NY. She was also secretary of the Atwell Fish & Game Club of Atwell, NY, near her beloved home in the Adirondack Park.  

Elaine was very creative and enjoyed entertaining. She was skilled in dessert making and crafts, and generously gave of herself by sharing her creations and crafting skills with friends and neighbors, and through her volunteering. 

She leaves her husband Stephen, a sister and brother-in-law Linda and Steven Gribnau of Shelburne, VT, a brother John Gardner from Frankfort, NY (deceased). Nieces and nephews Erica Gardner Bushley and Ray Bushley and great nephew Riley Bushley of Little Falls, NY, Christopher and Lisa Henry Gribnau and great niece Anabel Gribnau of Charlotte, VT, Lisa Gribnau Roche and Patrick Roche of Charlotte, VT. She also leaves cousins Dean Gardner of Clinton, NY, and Thomas Gaines of Yorkville, NY.  

The family will receive visitors at Rogers Hovatter Funeral, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, from 2-4 & 6-8PM on Monday February 24th. 

A visitation will also take place at Heinz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer, Utica, NY, on Saturday, March 8th from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. 

She will be interred at the Holy Trinity Cemetery Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum in Utica, NY. 

If you wish, donations can be made in her memory to The Daughters of the American Revolution, Washington, DC, Delaware Hospice, the Cancer Society, or to an organization of your choice.
