Effie Marie Hood

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL - formerly of Milford - Effie was called home by her heavenly Father on February 20, 2016 to have a reunion with her family and friends that she loved.  We are so thankful to have had 46 years with her to experience the extraordinary beauty of her heart.

She was born in Milford on September 20, 1969, the daughter of Vernon "Buzzy" and Jana Hood.

Effie was a lover of horses even as a small child.   She had a gift for training, showing and riding, especially her horse "Clipper".

She graduated from Christian Tabernacle School and also attended Goldey Beacom and Wesley College.

The joy and love of Effie's life was her son Phillip.  Bringing him into the world, she often said, was her greatest accomplishment in life.

From 2009 to 2014 she cared for her dear grandparents, Marie and Otis Webb and when they went to heaven she moved to St. Augustine, Florida.  She loved the warm sunshine, and enjoyed taking long walks on the beautiful beaches there with her two little dogs "Quick Silver" and "Jack".

She was employed by Riverside Cottages Assisted Living where she truly enjoyed the residents that she cared for.

Effie was a life long member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Milford joining the church when she was 12.

In addition to her parents, Vernon "Buzzy" and Jana Hood of Milford, Effie is survived by her beloved son, Phillip Lane of Milford; her brother, Aaron Hood and his wife LeeAnn of Lewes; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A service to celebrate Effie's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S.E. Front St, Milford.  Relatives and friends are invited to a reception following the service for food and fellowship with the family.
