Edna N. Evans
Of Milford, passed away Monday, October 11, 2010 at Milford Center. She was 71.
Edna was born on April 8, 1939 in Brushy Mound, Illinois, daughter of the late Theodore E. and Lottie (Tracey) Newhouse.
She was a full time homemaker most of her life, later employed for several years as a clerk at Best Ace Hardware in Milford.
Mrs. Evans was a life member of the Carlisle Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Milford.
She was a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford for many years and had also been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Milford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Evans in 2003.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna L. Evans and a son and daughter-in-law; Edward and Veronica Evans, all of Milford; a brother and sister-in-law, Theodore M. and Edna Newhouse of Milford; a sister, Winona Warren of Dover; four grandchildren, Lauren Walton, Lily Walton, William Evans and Olivia Evans; five nieces and nephews and Jackie Wolfe, who she thought of as a "second daughter".
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Milford Community Cemetery on North Walnut Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Delaware, 108 North Bedford St, Georgetown, DE, 19947 or to the Carlisle Fire Company, P.O. Box 292, Milford, DE, 19963.
