Donald R. Currie

Of Milford, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at his home. He was 92.

Donald was born on March 7, 1919 in Canada, son of the late Ralph A. and Jeannie (Golightly) Currie.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country proudly during World War II.

Mr. Currie was a truck driver with the teamsters union employed by Masten Trucking, later known as TIE Red Star in Milford for 41 years, retiring in 1981.

He loved going to the sales at Wilson's Auction in Lincoln.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Currie was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Ann Currie in 1994 and a son, D. Wayne Currie.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ralph L. Currie of Lincoln and William M. and Delores Currie of Waldorf, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Lee and Weston Rose of Winter Springs, FL; a daughter-in-law, Mimi Currie of Milford; a brother, Robert W. Currie of Milford; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Thomas Silveri of Cape Coral, FL; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and three great- great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Barratts Chapel Cemetery in Frederica.

Burial will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contribution to the Home of the Brave, 6632 Sharp's Rd, Milford, DE, 19963.
