Dolores S. Smith
MILFORD - Dolores S. Smith passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was 78.
Dolores was born in Cambridge, Maryland on July 25, 1936, daughter of the late Talmadge Slacum and Virginia (Fallin) Slacum Moore.
She was a medical assistant for 32 years working with several local physicians, lastly employed in the offices of Dr. Graybeal and Dr. Crabb in Milford for 20 years before retiring in 1998.
Dolores was a devoted member of Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford where she was an active participant of the Alter Guild and Bible Study Groups.
She is survived by her son, Borden "Bordie" Smith of Milford; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Francis Quillen of Harrington; a brother, Neil Moore of Milford; two nephews, Christopher Moore of Wilmington, and Ryan Moore, his wife, Jamie, and a great nephew, Mason Moore, all of Camden; and Terry D'Arco of New Bern, North Carolina.
A celebration of Dolores's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St, Milford.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE, 19963 or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 100 West 10th St., Suite 209, Wilmington, DE, 19801.
