Diana L. Walch
MILFORD - Diana L. Walch passed away gracefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 23, 2014. She was 72.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, the only child of Faye and Harold Stengel, Diana grew up in Boulder, Colorado and was a 1964 graduate of Colorado State University, where she met Vernon H. Walch of North Wales, Pennsylvania.
Vern and Diana married immediately after college and spent time in Texas and Indiana during Vern's military service in the U.S. Army. They then started a family and thus began Diana's true passion. She was the devoted mother of her five children. Vern and Diana settled in Milford in 1973 where they raised their family and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Diana worked for a number of years at American Dental Cooperative as a bookkeeper and later as the Vice President. She then worked for Clariant Cooperation as Director of Human Resources before assuming the role of Director of Human Resources at Harrington Raceway and Casino from where she retired in 2012.
Diana loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking family vacations, riding her horse, walking with friends and her dog, but mostly being involved with her family and being a mother to all. Her perpetual welcoming nature, her gracious, kind demeanor, and her sharp wit will be missed by all who knew her.
Diana will be dearly missed by her husband of 50 years, Vern Walch; her children; Vernon M. Walch and his girlfriend Donna Majikis of Lincoln; Tammy Phillips and her husband Randy of Lincoln; Johnna Seal and her husband Scott of Oxford, PA; Andy Walch and his wife Michelle of Newark; and Keith Walch and his wife Kerry of Wilmington; and her ten grandchildren, Jamie, Matthew, Stephen, Eric, Robert, Sophia, Genevieve, Kyle, Grady, and Rowan.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave, Milford.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the church.
Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to her grandnephew Cristiano who is two and currently battling the same leukemia that she could not. http://www.gofundme.com/Cristiano-Mex-Walch
