Charles Dana Carr
HARRINGTON- Charles D. Carr passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 70.
Charles was born in Pleasantville, New Jersey on December 3, 1944. He was the son of the late Alma Carr and Ruth (Brown) Carr who traveled many years ago to America from England on a White Star Line.
Mr. Carr was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving two tours in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry during 1965-1968 as a helicopter crew chief.
Charlie lived in Pleasantville until 1995 and Corbin City, New Jersey until 1998. His free spirit took him to many states with his wife, Barbara, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Nevada, and finally to Delaware in 2010.
He was a member of the Local #68 Operating Engineers employed at Resort International and Trump Plaza in New Jersey from 1983 to 2007 as a Maintenance Engineer. Charlie also was a sole proprietor of a Masonry business and built new quality stick built homes for the diverse community of Pleasantville. He was lastly employed in Security with Harrington Raceway and Casino in Harrington.
In his downtime, Charlie enjoyed kayaking, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Barbara Bullock; two brothers, Jeff Carr of Mechanicsville, VA, and Stan Carr and his wife Betty of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; a niece, Lisa Smith of Galloway Township, NJ; a nephew, Stan Carr of Dorothy, NJ; a step-son, Charles J. Ivins III and his wife Megan and three grandchildren, Jacob, Hannah and Audrey, all of Lexington, VA.
Services and burial will be held privately.
