Carol L Illich

Carol L. Illich, 77, of Felton, DE, passed away on March 1, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. 

Born in Chester, PA, she attended the Woman’s Medical College Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse and went on to specialize in Labor & Delivery. She was loved by her patients, many of whom would stop by over the years to show off their babies and express gratitude for her kindness and dedication. 

In later years she went on to work for Matria where she monitored women with high-risk pregnancies. Carol was a talented nurse, a wonderful mother and a loyal friend. 

She loved to travel, share great meals, wine and laughter with friends and cuddle her sweet pup, Gia. I Love Lucy could always make her laugh and she was a longtime fan of The Today Show and Days of Our Lives. 

Daughter of the late Ernest D.  and Beatrice A. Fisher; Carol is survived by her husband, Milan Illich; children, Mark Illich (Brandy); Alicia Quigley (John); Janine Boccella (Michael) and Kimberly Shortt (Jonny); brother, Ernie Fisher (Nancy); niece, Julie Fisher; and many cousins. Carol was also blessed with 9 Grandchildren: Mason, Jesse, Colby, Jackie, Gabriel, Earle, Evan June, Senna and Cedar as well as 2 Great-Grandchildren: Milan and Cora. 

A Memorial Service will be held on, Saturday, April 27,from 10am-1pm, at the Inn as Swarthmore, 10 South Chester Road, Swarthmore, PA 19081.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
