Blanche E. Betts
Of Frederica, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on November 16, 2013, at Courtland Manor Nursing Home in Dover, after an extended illness. She was 87.
Blanche was born on January 1, 1926, the daughter of the late John and Ella Henderson of Flushing, NY.
She moved to Milford after her marriage to Gordon C. Betts, Sr. of Frederica, where she resided on the banks of the Murderkill River for 64 years.
Mrs. Betts was a member of the Frederica United Methodist Church for many years where she played the organ and sang in the choir. She later became a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford where she also participated as a member of the sanctuary choir.
She had a passion for music, travel, and reading, leisure time at the shore, her family, and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon C. Betts, Sr., and her sisters; Barbara Vasko and Doris Henderson.
She is survived by her son, Gordon C. Betts, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Milford; her daughter and best friend, Dee V. Smith and her husband Daryl G. of High Point, NC; her grandchildren, Timothy Betts of SC, her precious and cherished, Jeanne Betts of Marydel, Jessica Betts of Felton, Kristy Dudley and her husband Christopher of High Point, NC, and Keri Scott of High Point, NC; her great-grandchildren, Damian and Allyah Betts, Abigail and Avery Dudley, and Aislyn Scott; a brother-in-law, Anthony Vasko of Ft. Collins, CO; her nephew, Steven Vasko and his wife Kirsten of NY; her niece, Karen Vasko-Bowes and her husband Jim of Ft. Collins, CO; and her great- nieces, Anya Vasko-Bowes, and Natasha and Mila Vasko.
She will be missed by all who loved her and shared her enthusiasm for life.
Services and burial will be held privately.
