Betty B. Collins
MILFORD - Betty B. Collins died on Thursday, March 16, 2017 in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover of complications due to pneumonia. She was 94.
Betty was born in Price, MD, on January 24, 1923, daughter of the late John Tucker Carter and Elva Mae Carter.
Mrs. Collins worked as a switchboard operator for Burris Foods in Milford from where she retired. She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, watching and collecting birds, the beach, and conversing and visiting with friends.
She was a member of the Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Roland L. Collins in 1998 and two sisters, Virginia Hessey and Helen Nickerson.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Moffitt of Dover; a grandson, Curtis Moffitt Collins, his wife Dyan Collins, two great-grandchildren, Zander and Mayla Collins, all of San Jose, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as very special family friends, Phyllis Fisher, Marian Hood, Verna Cannon, and Lucy Schuler.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m.
A private burial will follow the services at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover.
