Audrey Geraldine Staats
Of Milford, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 89.
Audrey was born on July 4, 1921 in Achilles, Virginia, daughter of the late James S., Sr. and Carrie Dunston King.
She was employed in customer service handling new accounts for Columbia First Savings & Loan in Washington from where she retired in 1986.
Mrs. Staats was a founding member of the Colesville Baptist Church in Colesville, Maryland, and after moving to Milford was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church where she was active in their bible study groups.
She enjoyed volunteer work as a student mentor at the Lulu Ross Elementary School in Milford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl F. McVeigh, Sr., her second husband, Bernhardt P. Staats and three brothers.
She is survived by two sons, Carl F. McVeigh, Jr. of Salisbury, MD and Douglas C. Staats of Ventura, CA; a daughter, Juanita F. McVeigh of Milford; five grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Avenue, Milford.
