Andrew Whitman

Felton – Andrew Wright Whitman passed away at home in his sleep on Saturday 20, 2018.

He was born on in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 27, 1967, the younger son of William and Ann Whitman. Andrew graduated from Sackville’s Tantramar Regional High School in 1985, and emigrated to the United States in 1986, gaining dual citizenship with Canada and the U.S.

Andrew continued his education in Delaware, and graduated from Delaware State University in 1994, with a degree in Environmental Health. He was employed by the State of Delaware for 28 years, serving as a technician for Mosquito Control, then for several years with DNREC of Waste Water Management. He worked as an Environmental Program Manager II with the Department of Transportation for the past 3 years up until his untimely death.

Andrew enjoyed many fine moments in life. He hunted waterfowl, deer, and other game with his father and grandfather, with hunting and fishing trips to Labrador and Saskatchewan, Canada, and also to Colorado. He learned to ice skate at an early age in Canada and continued skating at the Center Ice Rink in Harrington as the captain of his hockey team, the Sharks.

More than anything else, Andrew loved his daughter Meghan Paige Whitman, now a freshman at Wesley College in Dover. He also dearly loved his wife Denise of over 20 years. He is survived by Meghan, Denise, his parents Bill and Ann Whitman, his brother Scott D. Whitman and his wife Susan of Tacoma, Washington, his aunt and uncle Linda and James Higgs of Pittsfield, and his uncle Jeffrey Hinsdale and his wife Nancy of Hinesburg, Vermont, niece and nephews Chelsea Newbrough, Sidney Whitman, and Nicholas Whitman. He is also survived by several cousins and many friends.

Andrew was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents Elizabeth (Nana) and Robert Hinsdale of Hinesburg, Vermont, and Robert and Irene Whitman of Pittsfield, Maine.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Ave., Milford, at 10AM, followed by a funeral and celebration of life at 11AM.
