Edward Hamlet, Sr.

October 12, 1941 — May 20, 2021

On May 20, 2021 Edward Hamlet passed at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware and is at peace with Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ed was Born in Philadelphia, PA on October 12, 1941 to William Matthew and Catherine Dugan Hamlet.  He was the fourth of five children.  He was preceded in death by brothers William, Robert and Hugh “Reds”.

Ed enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 16 and was honorably discharged after four years of service.  He then met and married his wife Joanne of 59 years.  He graduated with a  Bachelor of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Temple University followed by a Master of Science from the College of New Jersey.  He taught Health Education at Delran Middle School for 32 years in addition to initiating the wrestling team which he coached until he retired.


Ed is survived by his wife Joanne Abbott Hamlet, children Edward Jr. (Laurie), Lance  (Carol), Brian, Courtney (Fred) and eight grandchildren Tyler, Cory, Tori, Kate, Reese, Brian Jr., Frederick 111, Norah and his sister Nancy Toler.

The family will receive visitors at the First United Methodist Church of Delran, 32 Conrow Road, Delran, NJ 08075 from 11AM to 1PM on June 4, 2021, with a Memorial Service starting at 1PM.
